1961 PINK CADILLAC. Coupe de ville.
During the decades of production, Cadillac has gone through many annual face lifts and enhancements. This 1961 version is not alone and can be easily identified. One of the last ‘tailfin’ cars produced, this model was popularised by the slanting roof pillars giving much better visibility than the earlier, and some later models. This was achieved by doing away with the wrap around windscreen giving the car a much sleeker look.
This is the 222” long 1961 6200 series, 2 door, pillar less Coupe De Ville, featuring a 390cu V8 producing 325bhp, Hydra-Matic drive, ¾ length spear moulding, optional ‘E-Z-Eye’ tinted glass, power seat, power brakes, power steering, front and optional rear power windows, original working valve radio, heater and whitewall tyres.
Finished in the ubiquitous original Fontana Rose coachwork giving the world renowned ‘PINK CADILLAC’ it’s name. The outside is complimented by the interior upholstery adorned with Rose Cromwell pattern nylon with Rose Florentine-grain leather bolsters and other leather trim.
The current titled owner was the first owner in this country. Since selling the car to his best friend 24 years ago , he has recently bought her back and lovingly restored her to current showroom condition.
Having only covered 42,000 miles the history includes many servicing bills and receipts, previous Mot’s and previous V5C log books. Registered as Historic she is also tax exempt.
Further standard equipment fitted in 1961 included dry pack air cleaner, centre armrests, assist handles, cigarette lighters with ash receivers, electric clock, back up lights, courtesy lights, directional signal lights, glove box and luggage compartment light, glare proof interior mirror, full flow oil filter, auto release hand brake, dual sun visors with vanity mirror, windshield washer and coordinator and remote control outside mirror.
All in all a thoroughly original and cherished Cadillac in every respect. This car would grace anyone’s home or collection. A real treat to drive and excellent condition throughout.
