Since owning the van the last owner had a full external respray all the rubbers replaced and the cushions reupholstered everything else seems to be original. I don’t think your find a van more solid then this one., - The 1971 VW Westfalia Bus, the last of Type 2, T2-A series , The 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 finally featured powered front disc brakes, which make an amazing difference in stopping the Bus., Also of importance, 1971 was the first and only year that the Bus received dual port heads, mated to a new dual relieve case and a new oil cooler design. The new dual port 1600cc engine makes 51 DIN bhp or 60 SAE hp, which is twice that of the first engine that graced the 1950 Type 2, twenty-one years earlier. Highway fuel mileage is about 25 miles per gallon on today's gasoline - while cruising at 65 mph., This lovely Bus has been owned by the last owner for 14 years and always garaged, no horrible damp smells and everything seems to work, Elevating roof, Curtains all round, Cooker with gas bottle, sink with pumped water, 12 volt supply and 240 volt inverter power, the Awning is large and fit's well, plenty of storage, lots of fun with the family for little money, Registered Historic so no Road tax needed, In our opinion the only thing the van could do with is a new rear bumper as it is a little twisted.
